1977 March
Byron Lloyd Bonney started Lloyds North Pty Ltd employing 9 people based at Longreach Woodchip Mill - 100% reliant on APPM (now Gunns Tamar) - First woodchip mill in Tasmania.

 

 

 

1978 August
Commenced joint venture with Australian Newsprint Mills (A
NM). New company called Pine Harvesters was formed. Harvesting and carting to rail 90,000 tonnes per annum of softwood in North East Tasmania. Introduced mechanical tree harvesting (first in Australia) employing approximately 28 employees.

1978 August
 Negotiated Fuel Agency contract with Golden Fleece for the Launceston area. Employing approximately 16 people.

 

 

 

 

 

1981
Golden Fleece acquired by Caltex. New division was created within Lloyds North called LN Petroleum. LN Petroleum distributed Caltex products in Northern Tasmania.

1981
Introduced walking floor chip trailers (First in Australia).

1982
LN Construction Division of Lloyds North Pty Ltd was formed. Primarily contracted with the HEC to construct Hydro Damns on West Coast of Tasmania. 80 employees recruited, 33+ articulated dump trucks designed to work in adverse ground conditions made up the largest such fleet in Australia

1983
Joint venture with ANM ceased - started LN Forestry Division.

1989
LN Construction ceased when Hydro Scheme finished.

1990
LN Forestry Division was sold. Lloyds North consolidated and focussed on two remaining divisions: LN Transport and LN Petroleum.

1992 March
LN Petroleum acquired two remaining distributors for Caltex in Northern Tasmania. LN Petroleum became Caltas Pty Ltd.

 
 

1992
Lloyds North wins Cornwall Coal cartage c
ontact. Carting from colleries to washing plant 500,000 tonnes pa of raw coal. Cart 150,000 tonnes pa of waste/shale coal. Cart some finished product to Cornwall customers.

1996 December
Lloyds North JV, Boney Fox (now Lloyds North West Coast Division) wins its second major contract. Copper mines of Tasmania, load/cart/load onto rail 120,000 tonnes of concentrate.

1998 October
Formed strategic alliance with the newly privatised rail company in Tasmania - Tasrail.

2000 February
Philip Molineux appoi
nted General Manager of Lloyds North.

 

 

 

2002 July
Purchased Seen Petroleum a Launceston based Ampol distributor making Caltas the sole Northern Tasmanian distributor for Caltex/Ampol.

 

2002 February
Purchased Brambles Burnie fleet operations employing 20 staff with annual revenues of$4m.

 

2002 November
Lloyds North celebrates its 25th year of operation with a party for all staff, customers and their families.

 

 

2005

Lloyds North purchased Lindox's 50% shareholding in Bonney Fox and created the new West Coast Division specialising in the mining sector.

2006

Lloyds North and Caltas were the first companies in Tasmania to be accredited to the Truck Safe program "Trucksafe Link".

 

February 2007

Lloyds North undetakes a restructure and sells its Industrial Services Division to Veolia. 

 

Lloyds North's subsidiary company, LN Mining Pty Ltd, takes a majority shareholding in MG Mining Pty Ltd.  MG Mining Pty Ltd is a specialist underground mining contractor, with contracts in Victoria and Tasmania.

 

 

 

1995
Lloyds North purchased Trident Industries, which comprised the Industrial Services Division and Ulverstone Quarry.
 

January 1995

Bonney Fox JV was created between Lloyds North and Linfox after receiving notification from Aberfoyle Resources “Hellyer Division” that Bonney Fox was successful in the haulage contract of 1.5 million tonnes per annum for a minimum of five years.

 

 

 

 

 

 

1997 February
Third major contract for Bonney Fox. Mancala contract, load/cart 90,000 tonnes of ore from Hercules mine to the Pasminco Mill at Roseberry.

1998 November
First successful supply chain contract won with Tasrail to distribute approximately 150,000 tonne.

1999
Purchased first of two six inch Spoutvac Vac-Truck
for Industrial Services Division to service customers throughout Tasmania.

2001 July
Purchased and developed Rocherlea premises which consolidated two Launceston operations and Head Office to one site.  Closed workshop and outsourced all maintenance to truck suppliers.

 

2004 February
Safety Map accreditation achieved for all Divisions of Lloyds North.

 

2004 July
Redeveloped Caltas Devonport Office to accommodate Byron Bonney Group administration.  Relocated Lloyds North administration from Launceston to Devonport.
